Taylor Swift took home the award for Video of the Year at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday night, and she used her acceptance speech to announce that she will be releasing a new album later this year.
“I’m so grateful to be here tonight,” Swift said. “And I’m even more grateful to be able to announce that I’m releasing my new album, Anti-Hero, on October 1st.”
Swift’s announcement sent fans into a frenzy, and the hashtag #taylorswift quickly trended on Twitter. The album is Swift’s first since 2020’s Folklore, and it is sure to be one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
In addition to winning Video of the Year, Swift also won the award for Artist of the Year. She is now the most awarded artist in VMA history, with 41 wins.
